July 26, 2021

For those of you that are new to the area, welcome to Pleasant Valley!

If you live in the Town of Pleasant Valley, you may not be aware of it, but your fire department is served by a group of very dedicated men and women. Most of these men and women are volunteers.

Our volunteers do not seek reward or recognition but do it from our hearts to help others in need.

In years past it was local farmers and shop keepers that responded when a call for help came in. Nowadays, that’s not the case as much. Most of our volunteer members work out of town, which is why we have daytime paid staff to fill that gap.

The Pleasant Valley Fire District has some of the best equipment in the world, however we are lacking the most important ingredient…members!

You may think you couldn’t go running into a burning building or you can’t stand the sight of blood, well, no problem because we have something for everyone to do! Yes, you can become a firefighter or EMT, but there are many other jobs that need to be done. For every firefighter that goes into a building there is a support staff outside helping. Getting tools, setting up ladders, even comforting victims. Maybe you just want to learn how to drive and operate a fire truck or ambulance…all are needed!

Many of us have been doing this for 20, 30, even 50 and 60 years and we still can’t think of anything more exciting than helping some else in need. There is no cost to join.

We will provide all the training and equipment. If you have an interest in joining you can reach out to either station, Pleasant Valley Fire Company at Station #1 located at 1619 Main Street in Pleasant Valley or the Salt Point Fire Company at Station #2 located at 30 Cottage Street in Salt Point.

Become part of the family of neighbors helping neighbors.
