| 🔥 CHIMNEY FIRE PREVENTION 🔥
Chimney fires are dangerous—but preventable. Protect your home and family by following these important safety tips:
KEY CHIMNEY SAFETY TIPS
🧹 Annual Inspection Have your chimney inspected and cleaned by a certified professional every year to remove creosote and check for damage or blockages.
🪵 Burn the Right Wood Use only dry, seasoned hardwood (dried 6–12 months). Wet or green wood causes creosote buildup—the leading cause of chimney fires.
🌬️ Maintain Proper Airflow Always open the damper before starting a fire. Use a chimney cap to keep debris and animals out of the flue.
🔥 Practice Safe Fireplace Use • Never overload the firebox • Use a metal screen to prevent sparks • Never burn trash or cardboard
🪣 Dispose of Ashes Safely Place ashes in a metal container with a lid and store it at least 10 feet away from your home.
🌲 Clear Fire Hazards Keep flammable items at least 3 feet from fireplaces and trim tree branches to stay 10 feet away from the chimney.
