| ❄️ COLD WEATHER ADVISORY ❄️
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for our area.
Extreme cold can be dangerous. Stay safe by taking these simple precautions:
🧥 Dress for the cold • Wear multiple layers • Don’t forget a hat, scarf or face covering, and insulated gloves or mittens • Keep feet dry with warm, waterproof boots
🚶 Limit time outdoors • Cold, wind, and wet conditions can cause hypothermia or frostbite • Avoid overexertion, such as heavy shoveling
🏠 Heat your home safely • Keep indoor temperatures at 65°F or higher • Never use ovens or stoves for heat • Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything flammable
🚰 Prevent frozen pipes • Let faucets drip slightly • Open cabinets to allow warm air to circulate around pipes
🚗 Be prepared • Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle with blankets, food, water, and extra clothing
⚠️ Know the signs • Hypothermia: shivering, confusion, slurred speech • Frostbite: numbness, pale or waxy skin
👥 Check on neighbors, especially seniors and those who may need assistance.
Regardless of the arctic temperatures, the members of the Pleasant Valley Fire District are here for you 24/7.
