| A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the Hudson Valley, beginning at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday and continuing through 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
The National Weather Service in New York is forecasting heavy snowfall, with expected accumulations ranging from 8 to 14 inches, and the potential for locally higher amounts. Snowfall rates may exceed one inch per hour, especially Sunday night, leading to hazardous travel conditions.
All residents are strongly advised to avoid travel on Sunday, or, if possible, delay travel until Monday. Hazardous conditions may make travel dangerous.
If travel is absolutely necessary, use extreme caution and ensure that your vehicle is properly prepared. Vehicles should be winterized and in good working order. Carry a winter storm emergency kit that includes tire chains, booster cables, a flashlight, a shovel, blankets and extra clothing, water and food, and a first aid kit.
Additional guidance is available through the American Red Cross Winter Storm Preparedness Checklist.
The Pleasant Valley Fire District is prepared to respond to emergencies throughout the storm, regardless of snow accumulation. |
