| Happy Birthday to the founding father of the volunteer fire service, Benjamin Franklin.
Born on January 17, 1706, Benjamin Franklin entered the world 320 years ago and left a legacy that still protects communities today.
In 1736, 290 years ago, after an extensive fire, Franklin organized the first volunteer fire company in our nation, the Union Fire Company of Philadelphia, laying the foundation for the volunteer fire service we proudly uphold.
From then to now, service, preparedness, and community remain at the heart of the fire service. |
