| In cooperation with Williams Lumber and Uncle Mike from WRWD radio, the Salt Point Fire Company of the Pleasant Valley Fire District held its second annual fundraising event for the Trees for Troops program. This year's event took place at all seven Williams Lumber stores.
Trees for Troops is a national initiative operated by the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation. The program's mission is to provide free, farm-grown Christmas trees to military families across the United States. Since its inception in 2005, Trees for Troops has delivered hundreds of thousands of trees to all branches of the armed forces, both in the U.S. and overseas.
Last year, the combined efforts of the Salt Point Fire Company and community partners resulted in 850 trees being delivered to military families, nearly tripling the total from the previous year. |
