Over the last several weeks, our interior firefighters have been training on the new Emergency Escape (Bailout) Systems that were purchased by the Board of Fire Commissioners this year.
These systems are designed to meet New York State Department of Labor (PESH) Standards. All interior firefighters will be trained on these and then will be issued a personal system. Our members are spending time in the classroom learning about the systems and showing proficiency in using them through practical evolutions.
These systems are designed to help a firefighter who gets trapped and needs to make an emergency exit from a burning building. We hope that our members will never need to use these systems.
The members of the Pleasant Valley Fire District would like to thank Captain Chris Burke and the Poughkeepsie Fire Department for assisting us in getting these in service. |
