LODD REPORT
Deputy Chief of Rescue Bertrand VanAmburgh
On the afternoon of February 7, 1977 the Pleasant Valley Fire Department was dispatched for an motor vehicle accident on Salt Point Turnpike at Peach Road by BOCES.
Rescue R-170 responded with firefighter Dave Mauer as driver and the crew of firefighters Guy Donegan and Bob McKenna along with Deputy Chief Van Amburgh.
They rendered assistance to the first victim and transported him to the hospital. While enroute back to the scene Deputy Chief Van Amburgh complained of not feeling well and the rig reversed and headed back to the hospital.
Firefighters Donegan and McKenna rendered first aid to Bert but he later died as the result of a heart attack.
