| The Pleasant Valley Fire District will host a “Link to Hope” Suicide Awareness Presentation on Tuesday, September 23, at 6:30 PM at Pleasant Valley Fire District – Station #1, 1619 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, NY 12569. The 90-minute, skills-based workshop is designed to equip community members and uniformed personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize and respond to individuals who may be experiencing emotional distress or thoughts of suicide. The Pleasant Valley Fire District is the recipient of the 2025-2026 NY CARES UP grant, and this presentation is part of an initiative of the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Suicide Prevention Center, focused on strengthening mental health, wellness, resiliency, peer support, and suicide-prevention efforts among uniformed personnel. CARES UP serves firefighters, EMS personnel, military, law enforcement, corrections officers, and emergency communications personnel. “Link to Hope” emphasizes the importance of recognizing warning signs, starting conversations, offering support, and connecting individuals with appropriate resources. The program reflects CARES UP’s broader goal of creating healthier organizational cultures and reducing barriers to mental-health and wellness support for those who serve their communities. All uniformed personnel are welcome to attend. The Pleasant Valley Fire District encourages members of the fire service, EMS, law enforcement, emergency communications, military and other uniformed professions to participate.
