Memorial Day - 2026

May 23, 2026

While Memorial Day often marks the unofficial start of summer—filled with barbecues, family gatherings, vacations, and trips to the lake or shore—it is important to remember the true meaning of this day.

Memorial Day is a time to honor the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Every freedom we enjoy, every moment spent with family and friends, and every opportunity we have today was secured through the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who gave their lives defending our country.

We remember those who never returned home, the families who carried on without them, and the generations forever shaped by their loss. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, the members of the Pleasant Valley Fire District pause to honor and remember all U.S. military personnel who died while serving our great nation. We are forever thankful for their selfless devotion to duty and their commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.

"We don't know them all, but we owe them all".

May they rest in peace, and may we always remember the price of liberty.

God Bless America!
