| The Pleasant Valley Fire District proudly congratulates one of our own, Wayne Sauer, on being honored as the Dutchess County BLS Provider of the Year. Wayne began his service with the Pleasant Valley Fire District in 1987 and has dedicated nearly four decades to caring for the residents of our community as an EMT. Over the past three years, he has been the district’s leading EMS responder, answering approximately 15% of all EMS calls and providing dependable coverage day and night. A respected leader and mentor, Wayne has served in several key positions, including EMS Lieutenant, and currently serves as Treasurer of the Pleasant Valley Fire District. His exceptional clinical skills have earned multiple Unit Citations, and he has played a vital role in numerous successful cardiac arrest resuscitations. Beyond emergency response, Wayne has volunteered on the Thursday night ambulance crew for more than 20 years, supports the Pleasant Valley Food Pantry, and manages a medical equipment lending closet through Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, helping residents access essential medical equipment when they need it most. Known for his compassion, professionalism, and calming presence, Wayne has mentored generations of EMTs and exemplifies the values of dedication, humility, and service. For nearly 40 years, he has made a lasting and meaningful impact on the Pleasant Valley Fire District and the entire community.
