| Congratulations to Pleasant Valley Fire District members Lieutenant Kenneth Wallace and Firefighter Dominick Cussano on their successful completion of AVET (Accident Victim Extrication Training), also known as Vehicle Rescue Operations Level. This intensive, hands-on firefighting course focuses on the safe stabilization of vehicles and the rescue of individuals trapped in motor vehicle accidents. The training covers essential rescue techniques, the latest advancements in vehicle technology, and the effective use of specialized tools at emergency scenes. A total of nineteen firefighters—eighteen from Dutchess County and one from Orange County—completed the New York State curriculum, which spans six nights of both classroom instruction and practical application. The course emphasizes the critical skills needed to safely extricate victims from complex vehicle incidents, particularly as modern vehicle design continues to evolve. We commend Kenneth and Dom for their dedication and commitment to enhancing their skills through this rigorous training. Always learning… always training! |
