| Over the past twenty years, the number of volunteer firefighters in New York has dropped by 33 percent, resulting in approximately 80,000 active personnel statewide.
The most effective way to understand what it means to be a volunteer firefighter is to hear directly from those who serve. Local volunteers share their experiences and describe what their work entails day to day.
Interested community members are invited to visit the firehouse at 1619 Main Street on April 18 from noon to 4 PM to learn more and discuss joining the team.
