Special Olympics - Adopt An Athlete |
| March 6, 2026 | |
| The Adopt-an-Athlete program allows donors to provide direct financial support to a Special Olympics athlete to help cover training, equipment, and competition expenses. Because Special Olympics programs are offered free of charge to athletes and their families, sponsorships play a vital role in covering important costs such as uniforms, facility rentals, and travel. This year, the Pleasant Valley Fire Company proudly supported local resident Richard Fishwick through this initiative as he successfully completed the Tri-Fecta Challenge during this year’s Dutchess Polar Plunge Weekend. The Polar Plunge is a major fundraising event where participants take a plunge into icy waters to support year-round sports training and competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. With the company's support, Richard raised over $3,500 ($3,740) to benefit his fellow Special Olympics New York athletes! Congratulations, Richard — we were proud to be on your team! |
