| The Board of Fire Commissioners, Chiefs, officers, and members of the Pleasant Valley Fire District mourn the loss of a leader of our district. Past Fire Commissioner, Past Company President and firefighter Kenneth Luby passed away on December 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by many decades of selfless service to the Hudson Valley.
Ken’s commitment to the fire service began in Westchester County in 1982 as a member of the Ossining Fire Department where he served for 16 years. Upon moving to our community, he joined the Pleasant Valley Fire District in November of 1998 and was a member until his passing.
Throughout his years with the District, Ken was more than just a first responder; he was a leader and a mentor. His dedication led him to serve 10 years as Fire Commissioner, where he played a vital role in the governance and strategic growth of the District, ensuring that our members had the resources and equipment necessary to keep the community safe.
He also served on the Town of Pleasant Valley Fire Advisory Board, continuing his lifelong commitment to public safety. In addition, Kenneth was a proud life member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, where he formed lasting friendships and shared his passion for riding especially riding his trike with his soulmate.
As per the wishes of the family there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
The Pleasant Valley Fire District extends its deepest sympathies to the Luby family. We thank them for sharing Ken with us for so many years.
Rest in peace, brother. |
