| Electric Heater Safety |
| October 22, 2025 | |
| This is a great safety reminder—and one that’s especially important as the weather cools down and space heaters come out of storage. 🔥⚠️ Here’s a quick breakdown of why this matters: High Wattage Danger: Space heaters typically draw between 1,000–1,500 watts. Most power strips aren’t rated to handle that kind of load. Risk of Overheating: When overloaded, power strips can overheat, melt, or even catch fire. Not Built for Heat: Many power strips are made of plastic and lack internal circuit breakers or surge protection that could prevent damage from high-draw appliances. Safe Practices * Avoid using extension cords or daisy-chaining power strips. * Check the heater wattage and your outlet’s capacity. * Use heaters with built-in safety features like tip-over protection and auto shut-off. Please stay warm...and STAY SAFE! |
