| The Pleasant Valley Fire District proudly shares that Pleasant Valley Fire Chief John Cronk and Lieutenant Eddie See have been honored as the 2025 “Firefighters of the Year” by the Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY) for their courageous actions during a devastating fire on October 13, 2024, in the Town of Clinton. The two were among the first responders to a fire at an Airbnb, where they rescued a mother and her two young children from the burning home. Tragically, the mother, Shannon Hubbard, and her infant later died from their injuries, while the three-year-old child survived. The child’s father also survived the incident. At the ceremony held on Long Island, Chief Cronk tearfully dedicated the award to Hubbard at the ceremony, calling her “the real hero” for risking everything to save her children. Lieutenant See echoed those sentiments, describing the experience as deeply humbling and noting that any member of the Pleasant Valley Fire Department would have acted the same in their place. The members of the Pleasant Valley Fire District honor and thank Chief Cronk and Lieutenant See for their courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to service. |
