Don't Walk On Thin Ice! But If You Do...We're There For You

While it's still technically winter, people still may think it's safe to walk out on ice. With the warmer temperatures and spring not too far away, the ice that looks frozen may not be thick enough to hold you and you may fall through. If it happens, we're there for you!

Over the last week, both at night and at day drills, the members of the Pleasant Valley Fire District practiced their ice/water rescue techniques.

Under the watchful and experienced eyes of ESS Captain Wayne Grunter and 1st Assistant Chief John Cronk, the thinly frozen Lake at Camp Nooteeming was a perfect location for the members to hone their rescue stills.

Members wearing an ice rescue suit pretended the be the victim in the slightly above freezing water, while members of the team made their way out to rescue the "victim".

Members of the EMS Division, led by Lieutenant Jacob Gates, triaged the "patient" and prepared them for transport if necessary.
