January 5, 1961...The President of the United States was Dwight D. Eisenhower. On that day in January people were listening to Are You Lonesome Tonight? by Elvis Presley and Save The Last Dance For Me by The Drifters on their transistor radios. It's also the day Roy Hilliker joined the Pleasant Valley Fire Department.

For the next 60 years Roy, a third generation Pleasant Valley firefighter, has been continually active and an important part of the Pleasant Valley Fire Company # 1, Pleasant Valley Fire Department and Pleasant Valley Fire District.
