FATAL CAR ACCIDENT CLOSES ROADWAY

On September 7th at approximately 5:48 am, the Pleasant Valley Fire District was dispatched for a serious car accident near the intersection of State Route 44 and Brown Road in Pleasant Valley. Responding personnel to the alarm found a head-on collision with occupants of the vehicles entrapped. Pleasant Valley EMTs, firefighters, and Mobile Life personnel worked to free the occupants and treat their injuries. Unfortunately one patient succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Another patient was transported to an area hospital in serious condition. The roadway remained closed until 10:30 am for an accident investigation.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Mobile Life Support Services and New York State Police. Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response personnel provided crucial support throughout the incident.

The Pleasant Valley Fire District would like to remind residents to drive safely and always wear their seatbelts.
