Scammers are preying on your desire to help your local fire department.

The scam is happening all across New York state and across the country. Multiple fire departments are warning their communities about this shirt text scam.

One scam text message claims to be from your local fire department trying to raise money and offers $10 off a T-shirt with a link to click on. Another text sent under the name of a neighboring fire department offers the same deal – $10 off a tee with a link to click on and order.

This is really disheartening to see someone trying to take advantage of something like that that could cause difficulty in the relationship between the community and its fire department.
