August 9, 2022

The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Pleasant Valley Fire District are pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Sauer, CPA as District Treasurer.

Wayne and his wife Missy moved to Salt Point in 1986, where they raised their family and continue to reside.

Wayne retired in 2016 as a partner with D’Arcangelo & Co., LLP, Certified Public Accountants. Since retiring he had been the CFO at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in LaGrange until 2022, when he transitioned over to a consulting roll.

Wayne has been the treasurer of the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church since 1997, and is a past Treasurer of the Salt Point Fire Company and the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.

Wayne grew up in a fire service family in Salisbury Mills, NY. His family was heavily involved in the volunteer fire company, which is where he began volunteering as a junior firefighter at age sixteen. Wayne lost his dad in a Line of Duty Death in 1985, which sparked his interest in emergency medical services within the fire department.

In 1987, he became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and he has continued as an active EMT for the past 35 years with the Pleasant Valley Fire District Rescue Squad.
