As Benjamin Franklin once said... “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
Since he said this in 1770's, the fire service has embraced and lived by his words, especially in the Pleasant Valley Fire District.
Earlier this week, another combination ESS (Emergency Services Squad) and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) drill was held at Station # 1 to practice vehicle stabilization with extraction along with patient triage and care.
Under the direction of ESS Captain Trevor Simoni and Engine Lieutenant Jay Meyer, members became more proficient in the skills needed to safely extricate a person from a vehicle. EMS Lieutenant Kathy Hickman and Lieutenant Barbara Oakes then reviewed with the members present triage, patient care and firefighter rehabilitation.
A valuable training night was held for all members, from seasoned veterans to brand new probationary members. |
